The Department of Geriatrics and Geriatric Medicine at Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin specialises in the care of older, elderly and very elderly people. As part of the Charité, one of the largest university hospitals in Europe, the clinic combines innovative research with high-quality patient care in an interprofessional context.
The clinic is dedicated to the comprehensive care of elderly patients and the management of specific age-related challenges, such as mutimorbidity. The focus here is on the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of age-specific diseases and phenomena. The interprofessional team of doctors, carers, therapeutic staff and other experts work closely together to ensure holistic care.
Research at the Clinic for Geriatrics and Geriatric Medicine contributes to a deeper understanding of health and physiological change processes in old age and to the development of innovative approaches in geriatric care. The Geriatrics Research Group deals with issues relating to geriatric and clinical care and healthcare research as well as the development and evaluation of technological innovations and health and care-related IT solutions. The future-oriented focus combines the scientific perspective of care and healthcare with technological innovations for the benefit of those in need of care, their relatives and optimised processes.
